The Collective Draws Breath!
Thank you to everyone who came and joined us at this years Fort Collins Autism Resource Fair! We are so honored to have been able to meet such a large representation of the community we serve. At the game table, our therapeutically applied Roleplaying Game Master Caleb was able to bring friends from all backgrounds together to conquer tasks of their choosing. We even got to see kids and parents together fully engaged in a collective fantasy and spark imagination that games like these provide, it was a wonderful feeling! We hope that even if you don’t find a place at one of our groups, we helped make family game night more interesting… and Epic!!
Our STAR certified sensory integration Occupational Therapist Deana showed how a roll of a die can set limits, provide purposeful movements, and engage kids in sensory input without overwhelming their body and brains. Balance activities are a great way to focus and calm, especially for those who seek movement such as swinging, bouncing, or rocking. We hope we displayed how much parents can also benefit from these activities, and we’re wondering how many of you ordered a Bosu!
Eric our co-founder, main counselor, and ADHD and autism specialist was able to answer questions that only experts with more than 20 years of experience in behavioral mental health could answer. He has several groups actively running which you can find more details on our Groups page. Together with your help, the fair was by all accounts an incredible success, and we’re so glad to have been a part of it and meet you! If you signed up with us you may have already received an email, if you have not we ask for your patience, we had an overwhelming positive response!
We have received this question a few times already and are so exciting to announce that yes, we are building groups for the younger ages! We hope to be debuting groups for age ranges of 5-9 and 10-13 by the end of the school year, so keep an eye out for that!
